This splendid work, finely carved from linden wood and gilded in gold leaf, depicts the image of the Resurrected Christ in a solemn and blessing pose. It is the most significant representation of Divine greatness that defeats death and appears in all its power. God became Man and accepted passion and Death to save us from our sins, and now demonstrates His true Nature with the Resurrection, which is meant to be a message of hope for all mortals. The sculpture is of great charm and certainly stands out for its stylistic perfection, but it is especially striking for the luminous effect of the gilding, which gives the image an aura of a supernatural event. The Author, in fact, uses the gold finish with great skill and with excellent results, to make his work even more an expression of the extraordinary Easter event.
