The piece of furniture is embraced on the band by an elegant ornamental apparatus, characterized by the typical motifs of the neoclassical repertoire, with garlands, stylized flowers and oak twigs. Refined festoons of bay leaves descend from the band, giving a pleasant sense of harmony to the structure, while the four slender legs are delineated by a fluted truncated conical shape, adorned with a rich leafy capital.
The piece of furniture rightly belongs to the best neoclassical production of the Genoese area: a relationship confirmed by comparison with many similar carvings datable around the eighth decade of the 18th century. The executive quality makes it emblematic of the Genoese adherence to the influence of the nearby Turin Court, but above all of the French, Parisian in particular, workers.
In particular, the sumptuous and elegant neoclassicism that distinguishes it is inspired by the French prototypes conceived by Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734-179) and made known in Genoa by the architect Charles De Wailly, engaged from 1770 for the modernization of Palazzo Spinola in Strada Nuova.
The console is completed by a "Broccatello di Spagna" marble top, original of the time, characterized by a golden yellow background with red-purple shades.
