Important altar base or predella, made of carved, sculpted and gold leaf gilded wood, datable to the 18th century, of Italian origin, most likely from the southern area. The work features an inverted pyramidal structure with molded frames and a rich decoration of vegetal motifs and recurring volutes, of evident baroque inspiration.
The phytomorphic decoration, with acanthus leaves, blooming flowers and flowing curls, develops with great skill around the four sides, suggesting a liturgical origin and a supporting function for a processional statue or a sacred artifact. The corners are embellished with volute-shaped carved elements that recall stylized Corinthian capitals.
The furniture needs restoration, for which an estimate can be made through our professional restorers.
