Beautiful oil on canvas depicting the Madonna and Child enthroned, and Saints Peter and Paul depicted in contemplation before the Virgin.
We can assert, through stylistic and compositional analysis, but especially for the chromatic range used, strongly bright and luminous, that the painting was executed by a painter active in Naples, stylistically linked to the thriving pictorial environment of the school of Paolo De Matteis (Piano Vetrale, 9 February 1662[1] – Naples, 26 July 1728), which opened in its mature phase, becoming a true hotbed of talent.
His pupils included, in addition to his daughter Mariangiola De Matteis, Giuseppe Mastroleo, Inácio de Oliveira, the members of the Sarnelli family, Michelangelo Buonocore, Antonio Fumo, Francesco Giordano and Domenico Guarino and others.
The painting has recently been cleaned and relined, and is therefore in excellent condition. Gilded leaf frame dating back to the time of the painting.
The canvas measures 74 cm x 100 cm - the measures including its original frame are 85 cm x 109 cm
We attach a historical certificate of authenticity to the sale.
