This important pair of Baroque mirrors was made in the Veneto area around the mid-18th century.
The mirrors are presented inside a rectangular frame, with a mixtilinear upper part. The frame is divided into three portions. The interior part, which surrounds the mirror, and the exterior one are finely carved with phytomorphic motifs. The molded and median one is smooth, decorated on the corners and in the middle of the sides with bas-relief carvings in a vegetal fashion. An important and refined cymatium in finely carved, perforated and gilded wood crowns the upper part of the frames. Ramages of leaves and flowers intertwine creating a light and refined motif. On the upper sides the ornament ends with two vases from which a composition of flowers emerges, while in the center the mirrors are surmounted by a large shield with a noble coat of arms (party per fess gules and vert, in the first two gold stars, in the second a gold star) with the external ornaments, composed of the helmet, heraldic attribute reserved for nobles, and lambrequins.
These valuable mirrors are very decorative and of great scenic effect. They can be placed, individually or in pairs, in multiple environments, such as entrances and corridors, halls and studies, bedrooms or reception rooms. Of great refinement in the carving and in their overall composition, they can be placed on the wall as self-contained furnishing elements, or interspersed with paintings, placed above consoles or chests of drawers, and combined with both antique and modern furnishings.
The mirrors, composed of two sectors, are coeval.
