The Madonna nurses the Child in the presence of Saint Joseph, Saint Elizabeth, and Saint John the Baptist, oil on canvas signed "P. F. P." and dated 1589 or 1599.
The attribution to Pier Francesco Piola was first proposed by Mary Newcome Schleier at the 1991 Sotheby's auction in London. The painting was then published by Anna Orlando in the Paragone2 magazine, in an article dedicated entirely to the artist and his lineage, with Pier Francesco being the oldest representative of the Piola family.
