Giovanni Stanchi was an Italian painter of the 17th century. He was primarily an author of still lifes and worked mainly in Rome throughout the 17th century. Stanchi marked the transition from Caravaggio's naturalism to the more mature phase of Baroque decorativism. He was most likely trained in the workshop of Agostino Verrocchio, one of the most important in Rome at that time.
