Elegant Lombard Louis XVI style chest of drawers, made in the last quarter of the 18th century, characterized by refined inlay work and harmonious proportions. Its dimensions are: width 124 cm, height 87 cm and depth 60 cm.
The entire surface is decorated with inlays with leaf motifs, typical of the neoclassical style, and features finely inlaid amphorae on the sides, on the top and in the center of the two drawers, inspired by the shapes of Etruscan and Greek amphorae. This detail denotes the influence of classical art, highly appreciated in the Louis XVI period.
The furniture is entirely covered in Bois de Rose, a precious wood known for its warm pinkish hue, while the inlays are made with walnut, maple and rosewood, creating refined chromatic contrasts. The structure is solid and made entirely of solid walnut, including internal parts such as the bottom and sides of the drawers, the back and the lower lid of the furniture.
The decorative details are not limited only to inlays: the corners are enriched with inlaid vertical grooves, while the truncated pyramidal legs, also decorated with elegant inlaid motifs, give lightness and momentum to the structure. The handles and keyhole escutcheons, circular in shape, are made of gilded bronze, adding a touch of refinement and luxury.
The chest of drawers is in a good state of conservation and is a magnificent example of Lombard cabinet making from the late eighteenth century, perfect for lovers of antique furniture and neoclassical taste.
