Rare and unmissable,
Small chest of drawers with inlaid Directoire drop-front desk,
in solid walnut and inlays of various woods (walnut, boxwood, cherry etc.),
built in the Po Valley area (Lombardy, Emilia, Piedmont)
between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century.
Incredible piece of furniture in terms of shape and size, with a square design.
Completely built with unique walnut planks with strong thicknesses and inlaid with a knife
on solid wood with the technique called "a buio" (blind inlay).
The open top itself highlights
the internal construction of the escritoire, with the four flush-fitting drawers,
which hide compartments with various secrets. Extremely full-bodied and stable piece of furniture,
high cabinet-making quality and dimensional balance.
Supported by four truncated pyramid supports, also threaded.
The oval handles have a spiral-shaped pendant ring.
Original and working hardware
Completely intact and in original patina.
