Oil and gold on canvas, 129 x 248 cm.
Signed lower right
This work shows monumental figures in the foreground, behind which opens the veduta view that immortalizes the San Marco Basin and, in the background, the island of San Giorgio. Observing the figures carefully, it emerges that these are not simple extras, but that there is a second reading linked to the symbolism that connotes them.
The painting describes an enigmatic character with a bauta on his face, who seems to ask a waiter for a tip back, while an elegant gentleman, also in eighteenth-century clothes, observes and smiles.
