Francesco Zugno (Venice 1707-1787)
Valor Accompanied by Virtue to the Temple of Glory
Oil on canvas, 47.3X61cm
A work of great decorative refinement, typical of the Venetian Rococo. The scene is set in an ethereal sky, characterized by a dynamic and lively composition. At the center, Valor and Virtue are represented as allegorical figures ascending towards the Temple of Glory, a symbol of prestige and eternal fame. The play of pastel colors, the softness of the brushstrokes, and the elegance of the figures reflect the influence of Giambattista Tiepolo, of whom Zugno was a student and collaborator.
The work is accompanied by a study by Prof. Enrico Lucchese.
