Hendrik Frans van Lint (26 January 1684; 24 September 1763) was a Flemish landscape painter among the most interesting of the group of Flemish and Dutch painters who moved to Rome for the great study and work opportunities that the Capital offered. He is considered one of the main landscape painters in Rome in the first half of the 18th century, and the works produced in his renowned workshop were requested by both the aristocratic families of Rome and European travelers as a souvenir of their Grand Tour.
The large canvases were exhibited in the halls of noble palaces, while the small landscapes, often painted on panel, were suitable for satisfying the market aimed at tourists of the Urbe. The panel published here is a typical production of his workshop aimed at the Northern European market.
