Enormous zoomorphic bell from Bologna, early 17th century

Splendid zoomorphic bell in wrought, sculpted, and engraved iron. Decorated with a magnificent lion's head. Perfect state of preservation and patina. Diameter 22 cm. Bells were used to tie horses outside palaces, particularly common in Central Italy between the 13th and 17th centuries. This one is larger than average. Height 30 cm.
