Large polychrome ceramic sculpture, depicting Icarus, son of Daedalus and Naucrete (Minos' slave), was imprisoned in the labyrinth of Crete together with his father; he fled with the wax wings that his father Daedalus had adapted to his and his son's bodies. But, getting too close to the sun, the wax melted, so he fell into the sea that was named after him, the Icarian Sea (island of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, stretched almost as a bridge between Samos and the central group of the Cyclades).
The perfectly preserved sculpture is signed Mario Brunetti (Turin 1907-1995). Brunetti collaborated with Lenci and Vi-Bi of Turin. In 1956, together with Mario Mesini, he founded a factory of artistic and furnishing ceramics "Ariele", based in Turin, which remained active until 1962.
