Ferdinand Zschäck, also called Schäck, was a German painter specializing in landscapes. Born: 21.12.1801 in Eisenberg - Died on 31.12.1877 in Gotha (Thuringia). Active from 1816 to 1877 in Germany. He was born in Eisenberg, and after studying and working as a porcelain painter, he arrived in Gotha at the age of 20 and from 1839 he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Dusseldorf. Then, after graduating, he continued to reside in Gotha, at the court of Ernest II who commissioned many works from him. He was the first landscape painter to show us in many paintings the beauty of the forests of Thuringia. He arrived in Gotha at the age of 20 and at the age of 38 he joined the Dusseldorf Academy. There he began to attract the attention of the masters. His paintings, which he partly sent to Ghota, were pleasing to the Duke, for whom he began to paint. One of his important paintings "hunting in the forests of Inselsberg" is kept in the castle of Reihardsbrunn. Most of his other paintings found a place in the royal castles of England and Portugal, so his painting remained rare in his home country. He died in December 1877 and was buried in the Galberg cemetery in Gotha. Literature: Gothaer Gedenkbuch, G. Schneider, 1909, Page 173
