With a hard and nervous carving, characteristic of wood artists active in the Alpine region, Saint John is depicted wearing a robe and a long cloak, fastened on the chest, falling in broken-line folds. The hands joined in a prayerful attitude, the ecstatic face, with a prominent jaw and characterized by stern features, is framed by
brown and ringleted locks.
