Painting Landscape with Figures and Herds

Oil on canvas. French school of the second half of the 18th century. This is a bucolic landscape of lush green countryside, which opens in the background to fields and blue mountains. In the foreground, near an imposing fountain consisting of a monumental marble base on which an amphora vase rests, a shepherd and shepherdess engage in conversation, while resting together with their herd of cows and sheep. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century. Product condition: Product in good condition, shows small signs of wear.
