Pair of mahogany-veneered poplar wall units, each with six pull-out drawers containing geographical maps signed “J. Andriveau–Goujon, Paris, 1837.” Each drawer front has an inlaid and engraved label indicating, in French, the subject represented on the map: in the first “Mappe Monde – Asie – Afrique – Turquie d’Europe – Prussie d’Europe – Allemagne” and in the other “ France – CB de Bretagna – Italie – Espagne – Amerique du Nord – Amerique du Sud ”.
The cymatium is shaped and carved with foliate motifs and a rosette. The spring mechanisms are made of brass, iron, and steel springs.
