Corner Game Table in Rosewood made in Genoa in the mid-1700s. This refined corner game table is presented as a triangular console table, with a folding top that becomes square when opened, two small drawers threaded on the front and round section cabriole legs.
The elegant structure of this Genoese piece of furniture favors soft and slender lines.
The front marked by two small drawers in the under-top band, whose contours are shaped, creates a harmonious play between the top and the part underneath, the long curved cabriole legs. By pulling the central leg of this corner table and using it as a support, the top opens like a book, transforming it into a square game table centered by a cloth.
Made with precious exotic woods, this table represents a refined example of Genoese cabinetmaking.
Built with rosewood veneers expertly combined by the cabinetmaker to create excellent chromatic contrasts with the wood grain, of iridescent light; the top of this Louis XIV piece of furniture is framed by a fillet of bois de rose masterfully arranged against the grain, to underline the soft line of the furniture and the tonal contrast.
The state of conservation of this ancient Genoese piece of furniture is fair, it shows signs of wear compatible with the eighteenth-century dating and its restoration is recommended.
