Description: Precious 19th-century Italian alms box in the shape of a chest made of solid wood of various types. The piece has a solid and compact structure with a hinged lid featuring two slots for inserting offerings. The front is embellished with a crescent-shaped inlay with an initial. The alms box is equipped with its original lock but is missing the key. The interior is divided into multiple compartments, a sign of careful design for collecting donations. The bases on which it rests were made later to protect the chest from moisture from the ground.
