Admirable painted wardrobe from the second half of the 18th century, with a marbled background, painted in polychrome with geometric and floral motifs. ESSENCE: Fir wood painted in polychrome, with soft, warm colors. CONSERVATION CONDITIONS: Object excellently preserved with practical integrity, including the painting and hardware. OBSERVATIONS: The warm chromatic nuances, the craquelure, the splendid proportions, the conservation conditions, and the marbled background make it a wonderful example in the context of this rare type of furniture; now, intact painted furniture, considering their delicacy, are mostly preserved in museums and prestigious private collections. It is possible to determine the exact region of origin of these artifacts, widespread at the time throughout central-eastern Europe, based on the tones and motifs of the painting. Specifically, this wardrobe can be attributed to the Giant Mountains (Riesengebirge - Sudeten Mountains) region between Germany and the Bohemian quadrilateral.
