Pair of cherubs with a floral garland

This magnificent composition depicts two cherubs intent on supporting a garland of flowers, placed on a refined architecture with bas-reliefs and mascarons, presumably the top of a fountain.
One of the two cherubs nicely supports part of it with his hands, while turning his head towards the viewer; the second cherub must have clumsily broken the thread that held his end, and is sitting sulking with a torch and a tear streaking his chubby cheek.
The work, given its stylistic characteristics and compositional taste, can be attributed to the Flemish Jacob de Wit (Amsterdam, 1695 - 1754), or to an author from his workshop, with his typical triumphal and opulent style, which.... (full details directly on our LINK website)
