Bedrich Friedrich Wachsmann (Born May 17, 1820 in Leitmeritz (present-day Czech Republic) - died February 27, 1897 Prague) - not to be confused with his son born in 1867 - was an important painter and architect of German language and ethnicity, born in the Sudeten Bohemia. He graduated from the University of Litomerice. In 1840 he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig, then in Dresden and finally in Prague. In addition to the study of painting, he deals with the art of frescoes and miniatures. In 1848, he moved to Innsbruck in Austria, where for a year and a half he painted landscapes (our work, painted there, is from 1849). Acquires success as a painter and moves to Munich, where he is highly regarded in the cultural environment of the metropolis. He was highly sought after as a painting teacher and achieved considerable success at exhibitions in Salzburg, Linz, Vienna and Prague. He traveled in Tyrol and Northern Italy. In the autumn of 1854, he returned to Prague. There he painted watercolors, drawings and oil paintings. He created a very precious series of drawings of the statues of Charles Bridge.
