The painting, an 18th-century copy of Carlo Cignani's famous masterpiece (Bologna, May 15, 1628 – Forlì, September 6, 1719), measures 120x155 cm unframed and is embellished with a majestic gilded and carved frame, which brings the overall dimensions to 160x197 cm.
The work depicts the biblical moment in which Isaac, blind and wrapped in sheets and blankets, blesses Jacob. Sitting on the bed, Isaac places his hands on the head and hands of young Jacob, who is kneeling in front of him. To the left of the scene, Rebecca, also kneeling, encourages Jacob to deceive his father, bringing a finger to her lips as a sign of silence.
The application of color is meticulous and uniform, a distinctive characteristic of classical art, which confers depth and solemnity to the scene. The elaborate frame further enhances the importance of the work, framing it with elegance and grandeur.
