Copperplate engraving with watercoloring. Dimensions: 44x58 cm, frame: 60x70 cm. Perfect condition.
In Nuremberg, Seutter was an apprentice engraver under the tutelage of the more authoritative JB Homann. In the early 1700s, Seutter left Homann to establish his own independent cartographic publishing house in Augsburg. Although he struggled in the early years of his independence, Seutter's skills and commitment to producing diverse maps eventually earned him a significant following. By 1732 Seutter was one of the most prolific publishers of his time and was honored by Emperor Charles VI with the title of "Imperial Geographer". Seutter continued to publish until his death, at the peak of his career, in 1757.
