Oil on panel, depicting a galant scene in a rural context, by Thomas van Apshoven (Antwerp 1622-1664). He was a Flemish painter, known for his landscapes with peasant scenes and genre scenes in interiors. His paintings depict scenes of village festivals, tavern interiors, scenes of landscapes or villages with peasants engaged in various activities. His style was very close to that of David Teniers the younger. The painting is accompanied by expert appraisal by Prof. Ferdinando Arisi.
