Antique still life
Oil on canvas
Period: 1700s
Size: 118x142 cm with frame, 87x130 cm canvas only
Description: Splendid floral still life of important dimensions, dating back to the second half of the 17th century. Probably painted by Giuseppe Pesci (1679-1759). The work represents a bouquet of flowers, composed of tulips, carnations, roses, bellflowers, and other botanical varieties. The warm and vivid colors of the flowers contrast elegantly with the dark background. The inlaid golden frame recalls a classic and regal style, giving the painting an extra touch of prestige. In the lower right, fruits (including lemons) and leaves are carefully arranged, a symbolic reference to the transience of life and the themes of vanitas.
The artist demonstrates an extraordinary mastery of chiaroscuro techniques and an evident sensitivity to naturalistic representation, typical of Flemish or Italian Baroque painting.
A unique piece, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts of antique art.
