Giulio Da Vicchio (Vicchio di Mugello 1925-Livorno 2004)
Real name Giulio Rontini, son of the painter Ferruccio, takes the stage name Da Vicchio to distinguish himself from his father. He begins to paint from life, under his father's guidance, his real activity begins in 1944 in Vicchio, a town in Mugello where he was born and where the family had taken refuge during the war, at the end of which they will return to Livorno. In 1952 he made his debut with a personal exhibition at Bottega d'Arte, Livorno. Later he took a trip that would take him to Northern Europe, from this experience numerous paintings depicting the people and cities he visited will be born, the same thing happens in 1959 when he will go to Sicily for the first time. He loved to portray the people busy in typical local jobs and he managed to capture the different atmospheres that were breathed. Sicily will be a big change for him. his palette will become brighter, dazzling colors, bright flowers, just like those. The exhibitions and personal shows follow one another throughout his career, until the last years of activity.
