Antique Sardinian necklace with amulet made of silver around 1940/50: giunchigliu mesh (72 cm) interspersed with red glass paste (photo no. 6) and Sardinian filigree buttons which, in popular custom, were said to ward off any type of negative influence (photo no. 9). In the center, a blue glass amulet mounted in 3.5 cm silver with a button hanging from it (photo no. 4): in ancient times, in popular custom, the dark blue color was said to have been used to ward off the evil eye. In Sardinia it was customary to use even poor materials such as glass recovered from other objects to make amulets: both glass and silver were considered a magical material. It is in a good state of preservation.
