This pair of refined bedside tables was made in the neoclassical period, towards the end of the 18th century, in northern Italy.
The bedside tables are veneered in walnut and cherry wood. They have a top inlaid with geometric patterns. Inside a frame decorated at the four inner corners with fan motifs, there is a second square frame, rotated 45 degrees, with a diamond decoration in the center that creates a multi-pointed star. On the front there is a drawer, decorated with geometric inlays and frames, with a handle in chiseled bronze with a masculine profile in classic style. Below, a compartment is closed by a sliding roller door. The sides are also veneered and feature, inside a frame, a herringbone pattern that uses the grain of the wood to create the design and color contrast. The four legs have an inverted truncated pyramid shape with fine geometric inlays on the corners.
The bedside tables, which can also be used as small cabinets in multiple environments, are very elegant and decorative. They can be placed in modern furnishing contexts in which they will bring the warmth and charm of the antique.
