Venice, Panorama on the Grand Canal.
Jose Martorell Puidomenech (1800-1900)
Oil on canvas
cm. 130 x 112
Late 19th century
Excellent condition
The painting is in first canvas complete with the original frame.
This magnificent large canvas from the late 1800s depicts a spectacular panoramic view of the Grand Canal opening onto the San Marco Basin. The dimensions of the work allow the Author to describe the scenario, already in itself in a fantastic context, revived in a truly extraordinary way by an incredible variety of characters and boats. The Basilica della Salute and the Punta della Dogana, backlit by a bright blue sky, are the ideal theatrical backdrop for this great movement on the city's most important communication route that leads directly to St. Mark's Square visible in the distance.
It is a work of exceptional decorative value, capable of furnishing a large living room arousing wonder, like a large window on the city.
The author is the Spanish Jose Martorell Puidomenech, who signs himself on the bottom right.
The atmosphere is that of the famous compositions of the 18th century, revisited in a more modern key, while maintaining that typical charm that distinguishes the Venetian spirit.
The painting is in excellent condition, still in its first canvas and complete with the splendid original richly decorated and gilded frame.
