This beautiful overdoor with a coeval frame was painted with oil on canvas and depicts a rural landscape with figures of wanderers along the Aniene river, one engaged in fishing and the other waiting on a white horse. In fact, it would seem that the bridge depicted by the painter is Ponte Mammolo just outside Rome, giving us the possibility to see how it looked during the second half of the 17th century.
The painter who produced it shows beautiful pictorial qualities, both with regard to the figures that are expressed with pasty and rapid brushstrokes, but very detailed, and with regard to the environmental investigation which is faithfully reported.
The painting is in excellent condition, but we recommend a cleaning intervention since the pictorial patina shows itself slightly darkened by the dirt and yellowing due to old passages of paints.
Original ebonized frame and finely carved in the gilded elements.
The measures of the canvas are: 94cm x 33cm.
We attach a guarantee certificate to the sale.
