Description:
Delightful small Provençal dough box (98x45 cm; h. 92 cm) made of beechwood between the late 1800s and early 1900s. Composed of two parts: the upper part, trapezoidal in shape, has a scalloped top at the front and fits into the lower part, which consists of four turned legs with scroll feet connected by scalloped crosspieces: the whole thing is adorned with rich carvings. It opens on the front: sculpted with foliage decorations with medallions in the center surmounted by bows with carvings related to music. In the lower band a profile face with two crossed arrows (photo No. 2). These pieces of furniture, which in Provence were used to put the dough in, were brought as a dowry by the bride. Having been recently restored, it is in perfect condition.
