Grimelund Johannes Martin (1842-1917), born in Oslo, was a student of Hans Gude and studied at the Karlsruhe Academy,
but in 1876 he moved to France where he began working as an artist. He then began exhibiting at the
"Salon des Artistes de Paris", but also in Oslo and Dusseldorf. In 1884 he received an honor.
Then in 1889 he received a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle.
Finally, in 1892 he was made "chevalier de la légion d'honneur".
Many paintings by this painter are kept in the museums of Oslo, Bernay and Anvers.
The oil painting is adorned with a beautiful gilded frame in pure gold leaf.
