Biography: Italian painter who, with his painting, contributed to the affirmation of abstract art in Italy from 1945 onwards. In 1947 he went to Paris for the first time where, thanks to Gino Saverini, he met the major international artists including Georges Braque, Fernard Léger, Hans Arp, artists by whom he was profoundly influenced. In 1948 he exhibited at the Rome Quadriennale and at the "Salon des réalités nouvelles" in Paris; he often participates in the Venice Biennale.
