"Tulip" Tray - Doccia

Lobbed, oval-shaped porcelain tray with a corded edge, decorated in polychrome. The center features an early and experimental chromatic version of the oriental peony known as the "tulip," here in a purple version rather than iron red. Four floral sprigs adorn the rim, and gold highlights enrich the decoration. Doccia, Sesto Fiorentino (Florence); circa 1750. Manufacturer: Ginori Doccia. Dimensions: 34 x 26 cm.
