Zsigmond NAGY (1872-1932)

Beautiful oil on canvas signed and dated 1905 by Zsigmond NAGY depicting a young woman with a melancholic face holding two amphorae. The bright red and green colors of the girl's dress, typical of Hungarian tradition, counterbalance the emotional and expressive tension of the young woman, probably due to her solitude. This painting shows all the skill of its painter, who with his pictorial verve of impression uses charged and fast brushstrokes defining the light incidence on the subject that stands out in the room, filling only with the shadow of the depicted subject. The frame on which it is mounted is from the first quarter of the twentieth century, the same applies to the receipt or slip in Hungarian language attached to the back of the canvas. The dimensions of the painting are: 34cm x 49cm, 46 x 62cm with frame. We attach a certificate of authenticity to the sale.
