Rare painted chest from the 1700s, likely from around the middle of the century or perhaps even earlier, in complete wooden integrity and original pictorial condition, from Lower Austria, cm.125 x 66 d. and h.76. Refined patterns with Baroque-style panels with elegant vines and Rococo curls. With a warm, antique patina and refined patterns painted in vibrant colors. The top is original. The painting on the top/seat is worn, as is understandable, given that it has been used as a seat for centuries. The piece is in overall good condition. Hinges, escutcheon, and original lock are functional. Key present. Excellent for placement in a whimsical, modern, and refined setting. Piece in solid wood with slight and pleasant satin shellac polishing, signs of age and patina consistent with its age.
