The horizontal opening emphasized by Riva degli Schiavoni, on one side, corresponds to the vertical thrust of the Troad marble column with the bronze protector of the city, on the other. The delicate drawing with which the artist sparingly arranged the patches of color gives back a romantic and dreamy vision, preserved by time, of the Venetian architectures. The practice of portraying Venetian views, which began in modern times in the territory, spread widely in the European context thanks to the Grand Tour practice.
