Giuseppe Sobrile was born in Turin on May 13, 1879. He studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin and was a student of Pier Celestino Gilardi and Giacomo Grosso. He extensively depicted figures, diverging from the style of his masters and aligning himself with the varied tastes of Felice Carena, Cesare Ferro, and Domenico Buratti, sharing their inclination towards detailed drawing and a degree of decorativism. After World War I, he chose Forno Alpi Graie as his residence, clearly favoring alpine landscapes and rustic scenes, achieving particularly positive results in his snowy visions. He is also known for his still lifes of wildflowers: large compositions featuring sumptuous and colorful bouquets. He passed away in Forno Alpi Graie (Turin) on September 6, 1956. His last retrospective exhibition was held at the Mole Antonelliana in Turin in 1992.
