Barographic altimeter for aviation 0-4000 meters Jules Richard Paris, Patent S G D G, 1932.
In 1876 Jules Richard took over his father's manufacturing business in Paris. In 1882 he joined forces with his younger brother Max, taking the name Richard Frères. Although the company was dissolved in 1891, the monogram "RF" was retained as a symbol of the company.
Towards the end of the 1800s, Richard shifted his interests to the field of photography and photographic instruments. His brother also became interested in photography and cinema, becoming a partner of Léon Gaumont in the founding of the famous film company.
The measurement of altitude in barometric form with an altimeter is based on estimating altitude by measuring atmospheric pressure.
Measuring air pressure and knowing how it varies with altitude helps you know how far from the ground I am flying.
In fact, the barometric altimeter is nothing more than a barometer that measures the static pressure of the air.
The interior of the device incorporates a twin capsule aneroid movement and operates up to 4000 m.
The mahogany case has 4 hanging hooks at the top and four hooks at the bottom to dampen vibrations.
The barograph is in excellent condition with some signs of wear due to age.
The barograph is mounted in a mahogany case.
The drum is equipped with a mechanical movement lasting approximately 48 hours.
Key included.
Once charged the movement works and turns correctly.
