17th century, Emilian school
Pair of angels in flight
Oil on canvas, 74 x 60 cm
With frame, 84 x 71 cm
Halfway between Venetian figurativism and Bolognese colorism, this painting demonstrates in a superb study the belonging to two neighboring but closely symbiotic artistic schools, also winking at the work of Ippolito Scarsella (Ferrara, 1550-1620). The tender embrace of the two, with which the first little angel seems to lovingly appease the second, constitutes a pretext for the artist to perfectly calibrate the movements of the two figures, between a surge of wings and a fluttering of clothes.
The object is in good condition.
