High Friuli, full 17th century. Carnic Tolmezzo school. Important flap canterano in practically perfect condition. Magnificent seventeenth-century piece of furniture with the noble sobriety typical of high-period furniture from upper Friuli. In solid walnut and burr walnut, with refined geometric inlays on the front that create pleasant chromatic contrasts. Masterfully shaped and carved bands, typical of its provenance. Noteworthy is the canted orientation and the refined workmanship of the internal drawers carved with a pattern of symmetrical rectangles. An almost indispensable complement to these chests of drawers are the squared strips under the top. Elegant and regular proportions. The furniture is in practically perfect condition and has a warm original patina. There are traces of a previous limited conservative and consolidating restoration carried out well (mid-20th century?) with sanitization and well-executed closures of woodworm holes. Original bronze internal knobs and original wooden external knobs; original internal locks lost with the closure of the relative housings carried out in a workmanlike manner. Original internal hinges of the flap door on the front, external ones visible on the lost top with screw holes closed and concealed in a workmanlike manner. Internal book hinges of the reversible top integrated to replace the original external ones in sight. The entire wooden part is practically intact. It measures cm. 131 wide, 108 high and cm. 55 - 66 open/closed. Literature: Tito Miotti, Nobiltà del nobile friulano, Del Bianco editore.
