Jesus and the Samaritan at the Well, oil on canvas, Tuscan School mid-17th century

Important coeval frame in ebonized wood with carvings in gilded wood. On the back is an inventory tag n. 41, probably indicating the family of origin and the date 1728, fixed with two different sealing wax stamps. The canvas narrates a curious variant of the theme inspired by the Gospel according to John, in which the figure of an Angel with a bucket is inserted at the foot of the well curb, perhaps to indicate the spread of the Word to the faithful.
