Antonio Frixone

Antonio Frixone (Genoa 1843 - 1914) - "Santa Margherita di Marassi Church" oil on canvas signed lower left and dated 1906 Width cm. 67 height cm. 105 "...Feeling, drawing, color, chiaroscuro and exquisite finesse" were invigorated and exalted by him to such an extent as to promote the following rather severe judgment by the Ligurian art and costume historian Stefano Raibaudi: "he was and always remained a conservative traditionalist academic verist painter, a slave to an arid, cold, photographic realism. His portraits were in fact perfect, extremely accurate with an almost exasperating precision and finishing, but they are cold, objective, oleographic." [The Liguria Archive.
