After World War I, Jacques Villon engraved a series of aquatints inspired by paintings by modern masters, such as Matisse, Picasso, Braque, Derain, Laurencin, Signac, Renoir, Cezanne, Vlaminck, Bonnard, Manet, Dufy, Luce, Modigiliani, Van Gogh, and others.
This particular work was engraved and aquatinted on plate by Jacques Villon after the maquette specially prepared by Dufy, with Dufy's collaboration and supervision.
The work was published by Galerie Bernheim Jeune, Paris in 1928.
The paper has the Arches watermark in the lower margin.
