Odoardo Borrani was born in Pisa in 1832.
Among the founders of the Macchiaioli movement, he drew from life in the countryside around Florence with Telemaco Signorini and Vincenzo Cabianca.
In 1855 he then became part of the Macchiaioli painters group gathered at the Caffè Michelangelo in Florence.
Odoardo Borrani died in 1905 in solitude in the dignified misery of a small house in Pian de Giullari, a few months after the death of his companion.
