Optical phenomenon that consists of the decomposition of light into the seven primary colors, with a shimmering effect. Iridescence can be caused by natural events such as burial, for antique glass, which results in surface wear caused by carbonic acid present in the soil. Artificially, however, chemical agents are carefully used and spread on the object when it is hot.
