Architectural view with figures. Tempera on canvas, contemporary frame. Pietro Paltronieri, known as "il Mirandolese", born in Mirandola in 1673 and died in Bologna in 1741. This fanciful view, executed in tempera on canvas, displays the stylistic characteristics of Mirandolese. The iconographic themes are those traditional to the artist, such as classical and Gothic architecture, and figures. Pietro Paltronieri moved to Bologna in the early 1700s and became for all intents and purposes a Bolognese painter. The works of Mirandolese are present in the most important collections.
