Marco Ricci (Belluno, 1676 – Venice, 1730)
Landscape with fountain
Oil on canvas, 115 × 149 cm
A youthful work, it already presents the themes dear to Ricci's poetics: the landscape opening delimited by a tree-lined backdrop with architectures touched by light and the Dolomites in the distance, the homage to Giorgione in the ruins corroded by time and nature, the large basin of the ancient fountain towards which the painted figures come and go with rapid touches. The work is accompanied by a study by Professor Enrico Lucchese.
